High Strength Low Alloy
Steel Plate
ASTMA242-A58 8-A572
Sheard-flame cut
High strength, low alloy (HSLA) steels are basically low carbon steels to which have been added small amounts of such alloying elements, such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, zirconium, copper, and columbium. The effect of these alloy additions is to raise the strength to weight ratio of the steel in the “as rolled” condition, and at the same time, maintain weldability and formability. In A242 and A588, where copper is added, these steels also have 5 to 8 times more resistance to atmospheric corrosion than regular carbon steel, and generally increased resistance to impact and abrasion. Also, painted surfaces have a far greater life than the painted surfaces of mild steel.

Abrasion Resisting Steel Plate
AR235 (brinell hardness: 200/250)
Nivert Metal Supply Inc’s abrasion resisting plates are used in making scraper blades, grain and feed mill liners and spouts, concrete mixers, conveyors, hammer mill parts, drag lines equipment, coal and gravel screens and chutes, sand, gravel, cement and clay handling machinery. Abrasion resisting plates will, in most cases, outlast ordinary steel by a big margin and compare favorably with high-priced alloy castings. They can be machined, drilled, and punched and will also withstand a certain amount of bending and forming. Welding is not recommended.
